From 16 to 20 June 2025, in Sozopol, Bulgaria, more than 150 scientists and experts in the field of large scale scientific computations from over 20 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia participated in the 15th International Conference on Large Scale Scientific Computations (LSSC 2025), organized by the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT( of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). The LSSC 2025 conference, held every two years since 1999, is a respected scientific forum for presenting new methods, innovative applications and results of large scale computations for tasks in the fields of ecology, biomedicine and engineering sciences, new parallel algorithms and analysis of their efficiency, optimized supercomputer applications and high-performance data analysis.
The conference was opened by Corresponding Member of the Svetozar Margenov, Director of IICT-BAS and Chairman of the Organizing Committee. Plenary reports were delivered by scientists with world recognition: Prof. Pavel Bochev (Sandia National Laboratories, USA) Prof. Ulrich Langer (Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria), Prof. Kent-Andre Mardal (University of Oslo, Norway), Prof. Markus Mellenk (Technical University – Vienna, Austria), Prof. Markus Sarkis (Polytechnic Institute – Worcester, USA), Prof. Panayot Vasilevski (Portland State University, USA), Prof. Gabriel Witum (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Tuwal, Saudi Arabia)
Participants from IICT-BAS, IMI-BAS, NIGGG-BAS and SU (members of the National High-performance and Distributed Computing consortium) presented new scientific results obtained using the NCHDC infrastructure, purchased with funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria under the National Roadmap for NI program.
