The 11th Annual Meeting of the Bulgarian Section of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) was held on 20-22 December 2016 in Sofia. The purpose of the meeting was to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and the role of applied mathematics in technology and industry, by presenting and discussing applications of mathematics to science and engineering. As part of the scientific programme, Assoc. Prof. Emanouil Atanassov from IICT-BAS presented a talk “Advanced services for Virtual Research Environments”. More information is available here

The VI-SEEM Digital Cultural Heritage regional training will be held on 6-8 February 2017 in Biblioteca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt. Objective: This interactive course will introduce participants to VI-SEEM e-Infrastructure services, and then focus on the advanced techniques in 3D scanning and imaging for digital cultural heritage applications. The course is organized by NCSA in assistance with Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)  and Bayncore. This is a follow up of the series of training events at NCSA that will focus on training practical skills by demonstrations on how to test performance scaling on Xeon Phi of a few project codes.
